A Montana Story
'Great Design and Excellent Powder Skiing is a Great Place to Start'
Montana State University graduates Ascenzo and Rob met in first year design studio in 1981 and have been friends, ski buddies and professional associates ever since. Even though the rigorous and rewarding five-year architectural program at MSU in Bozeman, MT was extremely time consuming, with countless late nights, they still managed to get 20 plus days of powder skiing in at nearby Bridger Bowl every year. The lessons learned skiing powder together equaled those learned on the drawing boards. That we can be sure of.
They studied abroad together in Europe in the summer of 1983 studying urban planning and museum design. The culmination of that program was participating in a four week design course in Stockholm Sweden. That experience was invaluable to their development as architects and designers. After they graduated in 1986 they went back to the cities of their upbringing, Denver and Boston and began their careers in architecture.
After gaining invaluable experience working for prominent firms early in their careers, they both ended up starting their own firms and have been successful doing that for over three decades on both coasts and in the Rockies. They have extensive experience working in the mountains and ski resorts. Ascenzo has worked on projects in Telluride, Aspen, Vail, and Park City and Rob has worked on projects at the Yellowstone Club at Big Sky in Montana and at Sunday River and Sugar Loaf in the White Mountains of Maine.
Over the years, they have collaborated on projects in Boston, MA, Park City, UT and Telluride, CO and are currently pursuing projects in Telluride and at other ski resorts in Utah, Montana and Wyoming. They are both excited about taking their collective experience and design prowess to another level while designing great projects at some of the most premier ski destinations in the Rocky Mountains. Along the way, they are sure that the powder turns will come too. Please join us out there and the Apres Ski festivities that follow.
